What you are getting
Snug Email is a native macOS mail client made by Alongside Software, LLC (hello@snug.email). It is sold as a one-time purchase in two tiers, tax included. Early Adopter, $149, gets you the beta today, version 1.0 when it ships, and 12 months of updates counted from the day 1.0 is released. Founder, $249, gets you the same with 36 months of updates, priority replies from us, and a seat in the Founder channel of the Discord. When your update window ends the app keeps working exactly as it is. You stop receiving new versions, nothing more.
Payment is taken by Stripe through its Managed Payments service, and Stripe's affiliate Link is the merchant of record: Link is the seller named on your receipt and handles sales tax, while Alongside Software, LLC makes the app and licenses it to you. Your license key arrives by email. If you lose it, ask for it again at snug.email/license.
We license the app to you for your own use on Macs you control. We do not sell it to you. You may install it on as many of your own Macs as you like and use it with any number of mail accounts.
Refunds
If Snug is not for you, write to hello@snug.email within
30 days of buying and we refund the purchase in full, no reason needed. Link, as merchant of
record, can also refund a purchase for up to 60 days after it under its own rules. A refunded
key stops opening the app. The app checks each purchase for a refund twice, around day 65 and
day 130 after you bought, by sending only the order id to licenses.alongside.dev.
Apart from those two checks it verifies the key on your Mac and never contacts us.
Your mail is yours
Snug connects your Mac directly to your mail providers. We run no server in between, hold no copy of your mail, and have no account of yours to close. Everything the app stores is on your Mac, and the privacy policy lists exactly what leaves it and when. Deleting the app and its Application Support folder removes everything Snug kept.
Your providers' terms still apply
Using Snug with Gmail, Microsoft 365, Outlook.com, Zoho, iCloud, Proton or any other mailbox means you are also bound by that provider's terms, and they can suspend access on their side without our involvement. If you sign in through the browser, you are granting Snug on your Mac a token the provider issued; you can revoke it from the provider at any time.
If you add an API key for a cloud AI model, the text sent to that model is governed by that provider's terms and pricing, and any charges are between you and them. The on-device model has no such terms and sends nothing off your Mac.
What you may not do
Do not use Snug to send spam, phishing or anything unlawful, or to interfere with someone else's mail service. Do not redistribute the app, remove its signature, or sell access to it. Do not try to make the app talk to a provider on behalf of someone who has not agreed to it. Your license key is issued to you and names the email you bought with. Do not publish it or pass it on.
No warranty
Beta software has bugs, and a mail client's bugs can touch your mail. Snug is provided as is. We make no promise that it will be free of defects, that it will keep working with any given provider, or that it will not lose, misfile or fail to send a message. Every automatic action the concierge takes is undoable inside the app, and it never deletes mail on the server on its own, but you should keep whatever backups you would keep with any other client.
To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for lost mail, lost data, lost business or any indirect or consequential loss arising from the app, and our total liability to you for anything connected with it is limited to the amount you paid for it.
Ending things
Stop using the app whenever you like; there is no subscription to cancel. We can end a license if these terms are broken. Either way, your mail stays with your providers and the local cache stays on your Mac until you delete it.
Changes
If these terms change, the effective date above changes with them. Continuing to use the app after a change means accepting it. Questions go to hello@snug.email.
