What you are getting
Snug Email is a native macOS mail client made by Snug (hello@snug.email). It is in early access: builds are handed out on request, there is no public download and no fee today. If that changes, the price and the terms for it will be on this site before you are asked to pay anything.
We license the app to you for your own use on Macs you control. We do not sell it to you. You may install it on as many of your own Macs as you like and use it with any number of mail accounts.
Your mail is yours
Snug connects your Mac directly to your mail providers. We run no server in between, hold no copy of your mail, and have no account of yours to close. Everything the app stores is on your Mac, and the privacy policy lists exactly what leaves it and when. Deleting the app and its Application Support folder removes everything Snug kept.
Your providers' terms still apply
Using Snug with Gmail, Microsoft 365, Outlook.com, Zoho, iCloud, Proton or any other mailbox means you are also bound by that provider's terms, and they can suspend access on their side without our involvement. If you sign in through the browser, you are granting Snug on your Mac a token the provider issued; you can revoke it from the provider at any time.
If you add an API key for a cloud AI model, the text sent to that model is governed by that provider's terms and pricing, and any charges are between you and them. The on-device model has no such terms and sends nothing off your Mac.
What you may not do
Do not use Snug to send spam, phishing or anything unlawful, or to interfere with someone else's mail service. Do not redistribute the app, remove its signature, or sell access to it. Do not try to make the app talk to a provider on behalf of someone who has not agreed to it. A build we hand you during early access is for you; passing it on is a request for another build, not a license.
No warranty
Early-access software has bugs, and a mail client's bugs can touch your mail. Snug is provided as is. We make no promise that it will be free of defects, that it will keep working with any given provider, or that it will not lose, misfile or fail to send a message. Every automatic action the concierge takes is undoable inside the app, and it never deletes mail on the server on its own, but you should keep whatever backups you would keep with any other client.
To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for lost mail, lost data, lost business or any indirect or consequential loss arising from the app, and our total liability to you for anything connected with it is limited to the amount you paid us for it, which during early access is nothing.
Ending things
Stop using the app whenever you like; there is nothing to cancel. We can end a licence if these terms are broken. Either way, your mail stays with your providers and the local cache stays on your Mac until you delete it.
Changes
If these terms change, the effective date above changes with them. Continuing to use the app after a change means accepting it. Questions go to hello@snug.email.
